Automated
License Plate Recognition (ALPR) is referred to as ANPR
in some parts of the world, that stands for Automatic Number Plate Recognition.
The ALPR-specific camera and data processing unit collects, deciphers
and stores license plate image data, and all corresponding event
information. A license plate image is captured and processed by an
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software program. Click here

ALPR Studies find their way in many aspects of traffic
engineering.
They can help identify travel patterns and roadway
requirements, specifically areas that generate the most traffic.
They identify flow patterns, alternate routes, new streets and new
parking areas. Additionally they are integral in anticipating
present and future traffic patterns and/or problems.
