University of Maryland Medical School
In
1998, The Traffic Group, Inc. was approached by Stewart Greenebaum
to become involved in a scholarship program for medical students
at the University of Maryland. It is obvious that the
Baltimore/Washington region hosts some of the greatest medical and
research facilities in the world, including but not limited to the
University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins University, Kernan’s
Hospital, Union Memorial Hospital, Greater Baltimore Medical
Center, and St. Joseph’s Hospital. All of these medical
facilities, plus the high concentration of bio-technology
companies and the National Institutes of Health, create a medical
and bio-tech mecca in the Baltimore/Washington area that may now
be second to none in the world. It became increasingly apparent to
The Traffic Group, Inc. (through Mr. Greenebaum) that out of state
medical colleges were luring away the brightest medical minds in
Maryland due to other medical schools’ ability to provide
financial aid. The University of Maryland Medical School Program
was established for local Maryland medical students to obtain
financial aid to stay in Maryland to attend the University of
Maryland Medical School and with the hope that those students
practice or continue research in Maryland. The Traffic Group, Inc.
pledged $25,000 and are delighted to contribute to this important
endeavor at the University of Maryland.
