Senior Traffic Engineer
Mr. Li, proudly
one of the first certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineers
(P.T.O.E.) in the nation, offers more than twenty years of applied
engineering and research experience, of which more than ten years
has been in traffic operations and transportation planning. Mr.
Li is proficient in AASHTO greenbook,
MUTCD and HCM. He knows the
various techniques used to analyze arterial and freeway flow, intersection
traffic operations and traffic signal systems.
Mr. Li has
thorough knowledge of all aspects associated with traffic simulation
and signal timing optimization. He is well versed with most traffic
models, such as Vissim, Corsim (TRAF-NETSIM, TRAF-FRESIM), Synchro
& SimTraffic,
TRANSYT 7F, Sidra and HCS. He has analyzed and optimized signal
timing for hundreds of traffic signals.
After joining
The Traffic Group, Inc., Mr. Li has finished hundreds of projects.
They cover traffic impact studies (TIS), environmental impact statements
(EIS), traffic safety studies, traffic flow modeling, transportation
system demand forecasting as well as capacity evaluations of highway
components. Some of his representative projects include:
- Centre
Pointe, City of North Charleston, South Carolina
- This is a retail and entertainment complex. The study was performed
to determine the best freeway access alternative to serve the
site traffic as well as the traffic on the surrounding roadway
network.
- King
Farm, Montgomery County, Maryland - This study was for a mixed-use
422 acre development, which includes 3 million sq.ft. of office
space, 150,000 sq.ft. of retail space and 3,220 residential units.
- Maple
Lawn Farms, Howard County, Maryland - This project located
on US Route 29 at Maryland Route 216 was for a mixed-use 507 acre
"neo-traditional" development. It includes 1.7 million sq.ft. of office
space, 170,000 sq.ft. of retail space and over 1,500 residential units.
- Pantai
Kapuknaga, City of Jakarta, Indonesia - This is a study
to determine the primary and secondary road system required to
accommodate the proposed 10,000 hectare development known as Pantai
Kapuknaga on the island of Java, northwest of DKI Jakarta, Indonesia.
A gravity model was developed to forecast the future transportation
system.
- National
Business Park, Anne Arundel County, Maryland - This office
development of 1.8 million sq.ft. is located on the northwest
quadrant of MD 295/MD 32 interchange. This study analyzed numerous
alternatives regarding access points along the high-type state
routes-MD 295 and MD 32. Traffic operations were thoroughly examined
and appropriate recommendations were made.
- National
Harbor, Prince George’s County, Maryland
- Traville,
Montgomery County, Maryland - This project was undertaken
to determine the impact of a mixed-use development for 175,000
sq.ft. conference center, 1.2 million sq.ft. R&D office space,
45,000 sq.ft. health center, 70,000 sq.ft. retail center along
with other residential and community developments.
