Paul
Dorr
Senior Design Manager
Mr. Dorr
spent three years as a civil engineering draftsman in the signal
engineering section for Baltimore City. Since coming to The Traffic
Group Inc. in 1989, he has participated in the design of traffic
signal design plans and special provisions, maintenance of traffic
plans, pavement marking and signing plans, conceptual geometric
design plans including roundabout analysis and design, interchange
design, garage design and cost estimates.
In addition
to Mr. Dorr’s extensive engineering design capabilities, he heads
The Traffic Group, Inc.’s Engineering Graphics Department as part
of the firm's Design Division. Mr. Dorr is responsible for creating
and overseeing the firm’s graphic enhancements as it relates to
design drawings, exhibits, and overlays of existing traffic design
scenarios.
Some of Mr. Dorr's major projects are:
- PANTAI
KAPUKNAGA, Indonesia - Mr. Dorr provided graphic design, detail
and preparation of the seven interchange designs/concepts
for access to this 25,000-acre project proposed to house 600,000
persons and 850,000 jobs.
- MENLYN
PARK, Pretoria, South Africa - Mr. Dorr provided extensive
design and analysis services on this project for The Traffic
Group, Inc. Mr. Dorr designed a speed ramp system to
a new parking garage and provided design concepts to
insure that the new garage would function in a safe and
efficient manner.
- GREENBELT
METRO PARK – Prince George’s County, MD - Mr. Dorr undertook
extensive graphic and engineering design services including
conceptual design and layout of multiple interchanges that will
interface with I-95 (Capital Beltway), the State Department of
Agriculture Buildings, and the existing Greenbelt Metro Station.
- NATIONAL
CATHEDRAL – Washington, D.C. – Mr. Dorr
provided conceptual design and layouts for various parking
garages throughout the "Close" for the National
Cathedral. Due to severe typographical changes, Mr.
Dorr’s innovative designs were an integral part of the Traffic
and Transportation Study that was prepared by The Traffic Group,
Inc.
- GREAT MALL
OF THE BAY AREA – Milpitas, CA - Mr. Dorr was
instrumental in the preparation of all of the internal and
external Signing and Pavement Marking Plans, preparation of
Conceptual Design Plans for off-site road improvements, and
preparation of all graphic design plans.
- NATIONAL
BUSINESS PARK – Anne Arundel County, MD - Mr. Dorr has worked
on the National Business Park project for several years,
including six different concepts for an interchange along MD 32
to serve the National Business Park, the design of the final
concept for access to MD 32 from the National Business Park, and
preparation of multiple interchange designs for MD 32 and Dorsey
Run Road, including roundabout designs at two different
locations along Dorsey Run Road.
