Derek B. Joost, PE, PTOE
Senior Traffic Engineer

Mr. Joost has over 32 years experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, highway design, research and construction. While working for the Traffic Group, Inc., he has performed traffic impact studies, modeling for transportation system forecasting, parking analyses, traffic flow analyses, TRANSYT-7F analyses, cost/benefit analyses, capacity/LOS evaluations of intersection/interchange configurations, and prepared safety impact studies.  Mr. Joost has worked on over 1,000 projects.

Prior to joining The Traffic Group, Inc., Mr. Joost served as a civil engineer and traffic engineering consultant with private engineering firms. As a design engineer, he developed traffic control plans and roadway design plans. As a traffic engineer, he conducted numerous traffic impact studies and conducted research into the state of the art and practices of textured shoulders, the state of the art and practice of Arrow Panel usage, and assisted in developing guidelines for converting STOP to YIELD control at intersections.
